What is self-drive car rental?
Self-drive means you rent the vehicle and drive it yourself, with no driver assigned to the booking. Most car rental in the Philippines is sold with a driver; on OOPA you collect the vehicle from a verified owner, drive it for the length of your booking and return it at the agreed time and place.
What do I need to rent a self-drive car in the Philippines?
A valid driver's license, one government-issued ID, and a verified OOPA account. Foreign renters can use a valid licence from their home country, an international driving permit alongside it if it is not in English. You pay a reservation fee to book, not a cash bond.
Is a security deposit or credit card required?
No. OOPA does not require a security deposit or a credit card. You pay a small reservation fee to confirm the booking, then settle the balance with the owner.
How much does a self-drive rental cost?
Rates are set by each owner and shown upfront, with the total before you book. Self-drive is usually cheaper than the same vehicle with a driver, because there is no driver's day rate, overtime or meal allowance on top.
Can I take a self-drive rental out of Metro Manila?
Yes. You can drive to nearby provinces and destinations like Tagaytay, Batangas, Subic and Baguio. Out-of-town and mountain trips may require a longer minimum rental period, set by the owner.
Where do I collect the car, and can it be delivered?
Pickup is at the owner's garage by default. Delivery to your address, hotel or terminal can be arranged for an additional fee, agreed with the owner before you book. Message us with your dates and location and we will set it up.
Are self-drive rentals insured?
Vehicles on OOPA are insured, and every listing is vetted through document authentication, including OR/CR verification, and physical checks.
Where can I rent a self-drive car?
Verified owners list across Metro Manila, including Makati, BGC, Quezon City, Manila and Pasay, with airport handovers at NAIA. Pick your city to see what is available.
Can I rent a self-drive car for a week or a month?
Yes. Weekly and monthly self-drive rentals are cheaper per day than booking one day at a time, and the longer you book the lower the daily rate.
